Contact Your Representatives – “Give em Shit”

It is imperative our representatives in Congress and local leaders put climate change at the top of their political agenda.  We believe it is such a pressing issue that constituents need to inform them that unless they proclaim this publicly and demonstrate that climate change is a priority in their day to day legislative activities they will withhold their support.  This should be done both in writing and through phone calls.

Furthermore, if there are lessons to be learned with the election of Donald Trump they are:

  1. that being unconventional in your approach to politics can lead to success and
  2. that being politically correct is not always the best path to follow.

We believe an unconventional, less than politically correct letter writing and phone calling campaign are effective ways to pressure our leaders to prioritize the climate change issue.

Please feel free to print and use as you see fit.  You can also easily modify letters to use in making phone calls.

I’m giving you shit!

I am writing to give you shit until you convince me you give a shit about climate change.  Here it is.

Please be advised I won’t do shit to support you until you give a shit about climate change by putting the issue at the top of your political agenda.

You can do this by signing the Climate Mobilization Pledge (http://www.theclimatemobilization.org/candidates-pledge)  Part of it is quoted below.

“The most fundamental responsibility of government is to protect the citizenry. As a member of government, I will do everything in my power to treat climate change like the crisis it is.

I WILL:

Introduce and support legislation that acknowledges climate change as a global crisis and demands mobilization.

Advocate publicly for a WWII-scale climate mobilization in the halls of government and in the media.

Enlist fellow leaders from all parties in this effort.

Thus I pledge to mobilize, in defense of civilization and the natural world.”

Sincerely,

I’m putting you on notice.

I am writing to advise you that I will no longer support you in any way until you convince me you care about climate change by putting the issue at the top of your political agenda.

Our climate is changing. I'm humorously serious about addressing it. I'm convinced my ego is the main culprit. My religion, Holy Shitters, demands I humble myself and celebrate the fact my shit stinks.
